1. What course would you like to teach?
I would like to teach the charms class.
I think charms is a wonderful subject. All of the spells and techniques the students will learn from me will help them later in life and possibly even in battle.
2. What are your teaching methods like?
I plan on being an active member and therefore will check in on my class daily. I will post updates and new information depending on activity. I prefer for a few students to reply before moving on but hopefully I will
be able to update once a week and more if the activity level is higher. I will take as many students as are interested in taking the course however if interest in the class grows to be too great I will have to make a limit so each character will have a chance for optimal participation. If the amount of students is great enough I could run two courses at the same time. Even though the homework will be counted towards house points, I
would require each student to pass the final at the end of the course to move on to the next level. (This will make sure the students signed up have interest and are not there just to gain posts.)I want this class to be a fun and active role playing environment.
The first course level will focus on the following:
Week 1: How to correctly hold and use your wand.
Week 2: How do spells work? A quick and simple overview of the origin and meanings of the upcoming charms to be performed.
Week 3: Performing basic charms and learning to channel the magic to a specific source.
Week 4: Casting basic spells on small objects.
As the courses go on they of course will go up in difficulty.
Homework will mostly be practicing during ic rp and showing me what it is they did. I figure that way it's not so much of a burden and more fun. The final will be something written combined with an IC rp example using the spells they have learned.
3. Who are you? (IRL)
My name is Lietzel and I am twenty-two years old. I am a preschool teacher and aspiring pastry chef. I enjoymany hobbies such as music, reading, writing, baking and snowboarding. A strength of mine would definitely be perseverance and a weakness would be trying so hard not to be weak. I like to stay strong in everything I do and follow it through to the best of my abilities. I can most definitely manage the time needed to be a teacher at Hogwarts. I will do my best to be present daily and respond quickly. I see rpg as a hobby of sorts for me. I set aside time for it every day and that won't be changing anytime soon.
4. How can we contact you?
My e-mail is addictedreader@gmail.com
I don't do any IM as I feel it takes up too much of my time I would rather be using elsewhere. However, I do check my e-mail several times every day and that is the easiest way to reach me.
5. What is your character’s name and history?
My character's name is Alice Fitzpatrick.
Alice was born on Clare Island, Ireland on December 10, 1988 to her mother Deirdre Fitzpatrick. Alice's father is a wealthy doctor and had left her mother for another woman before she was born. Never hearing from him, knowing what he looked like or recieving any kind of help, together Alice and her mother lived the hard life. Nothing was ever handed to them. Her mother worked as a seamstress to keep up with the house and clothing and together they worked the fields to bring in fresh crops. After a terrible car accident, Alice lost her mother and then knew the true sense of what it was like to be alone. The local priest sent her to live with
the man she would soon learn to call father in Frankfurt, Germany. Alice struggled for many years, trying to learnher place in this new life and new world. She spent time feeling more alone than she had when she lost her mother. She was in a strange place where she didn't understand anyone, she had nowhere to work and keep busyand she had no friends. It was hard to learn a new language and culture, and the most difficult of all was
learning her place in her new family. It wasn't easy to give up everything. Now she was a well kept, bitter daughter of Hans Adler and his wife Lena Adler. Alice didn't like her new step mother and avoided her at all costs.
And while greatful that her father accepted her, she had begrudging feelings for him she suspected would never go away. How could she ever forgive him for abandoning her and her mother? It was a wonderful spring day when Alice received her letter to Hogwarts. Although she thought it strange that shecould be magical, the thought of such a world was far better than anything she had now. She packed her bags and
lived out a wonderful seven years at Hogwarts, filling her brain with wondering information and learning new magical abilities. After she graduated, Alice lived on her own for a few years attending muggle colleges. She earned a degree in education and decided the best place for her was back at the school that gave her a sense of meaning again in her
life.
6. What does your character look like?
Alice has a slender but, but muscular figure that stands about five foot six. She has straight, pitch black hair that reaches down the length of her back and bangs that hang down on one side to her strong cheek bones. Her bright green eyes stand out against her olive colored skin. and she has light freckles across the bridge of her nose. Her dazzling, perfectly straight smile accentuates her naturally plump and rosey lips. Alice is a very T-shirt and jeans kind of gal but likes to dress nice when she teaches. Her hair is almost always put up or braided and she doesn't go anywhere without her converse.
7. What are some of your character's strengths? Weaknesses?
Alice is a stubborn and strong person who knows what she wants and will go out and get it. She is very kind and loving to all people she meets but will also hold her own if necessary. She is a hard worker and is constantly looking for new things to learn. She can speak three languages; Irish (Gaeilge), German and English, and has graduated from Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry and the University of Heidelberg. Sometimes she gets a little too caught up in her books and work and tends to miss out on other events. Alice also has a very hot temper buttries to focus a lot on controlling it and her thick Irish accent can sometimes make her hard to understand.
8. What are your role-playing skills like?
Please write a response to the following role-play, or, choose a topic of your own.
Minette Brown, a girl whose mousey brown looks and hair completely fit her name, stood in the cold dark hallway clutching her books to herself and shivering. It was only 7 o'clock in the evening, not even near lights out yet, and already the castle was as pitch-dark as midnight. She blamed it on the weather. It was horrible. Outside, menacing grey clouds filled the skies, sending down hordes of rain and lightning, all dancing to the tune of booming thunder. Another resounding sound of thunder made Minette jump and tremble even more fiercely. She wasn't known for her courage; just like a mouse they said, ready to jump and squeak at everything. Now look at her, not even possessing the guts to walk down a simple hallway to her house common. Suddenly Minette heard footsteps, footsteps coming down the corridor, towards her! It could be a professor, it was most probably a student...yes, it probably was...but...but what if it was one of the more malicious Hogwarts ghosts? Squeaking in terror, Minette
dropped her books in the middle of the hallway and scurried to hide behind a suit of armor by the wall.
Alice loved the rain storms, it reminded her of home, her real home. With the winds swirling her raven hair around her face and rushing the waves toward their little island like a shepherd herding his sheep toward safe ground, but more fierce somehow. She pictured itas she walked down the corridor toward her sleeping quarters, turning in early for the evening. In her minds eye she could see and hear the waves thrashing about, smashing into the coast as lightening lit up the sky revealing the unseen clouds. The sound of rain pounding on their roof, one little drop at a
time making a calming rythm and musical sound that was nostalgic to her. The thunder would add it's 'boom' occasionally like the timpani in an orchestra, making it's voice heard loud and rumbling. She smiled to herself taking in a deep breath, filling her lungs with the smell of fresh rain. Suddenly she heard a bang that did not belong in her serene symphony. Her eyes popped open in suprise and scanned the area around her. Nothing seemed out of place, but she decided to take a look around anyway. She slowed her pace and as she rounded the next corner and saw a stack of books lying on the floor as if they had been flung or dropped quickly. 'That would be the source of the noise, but where is their owner?' she wondered. She bent down to gather the books and as she stood again her green eyes caught sight of brown hair coming from behind a suit of armor. It almost looked like a wig, but Alice knew better. She pulled out her wand and whispered "lumos." 'Why would someone drop their things and hide?' She walked loser to the wall and peered behind the armor. Standing there was a small girl with a startled look on her face. She
reminded her of someone small and meek that she had met once, but somehow she wasn't able to put a name to her frightened and fragile looking face. Alice offered up a friendly smile and handed the girl what she assumed were her books. "You should take better care of those." Alice waited but the girl didn't respond. She noticed her arms and legs were trembling and her eyes were wide like a dear caught in headlights. Suddenly she felt sorry for the poor girl and hoped she hadn't been harmed in any way. "Are you okay?"
It was late when I wrote this so I hope it's up to par. Thank you for your consideration.
