Hogwarts Academy Quidditch Rules
These rules are very complex and hard to understand. I would suggest reading through them a few times before PMing your house head with questions about the system.
These rules are very complex and hard to understand. I would suggest reading through them a few times before PMing your house head with questions about the system.
The Quidditch Method
The way Quidditch is played at Hogwarts is through a number system. In order to allow us to keep our roleplaying method, but still keep it fair, we use the number system. This prevents hero players who will constantly attempt to catch the snitch on their first post, etc. Basically, a randomizer number program chooses one of the random numbers that correlates to a certain event. The referee is in charge of receiving the random number and posting the event that correlates with it. The referee posts the result out of character so the person who is RPing it can appropriately roleplay. You can see more on this below.
Game Play
- All Chasers - The All Chasers scenario is used at the beginning of a match, after a foul, or after someone has been hit with a bludger. This means that the ball is thrown up and all six chasers attempt to catch the ball. This scenario is used only at the referee's call. Available options include 1-6. 1 means the Team A Chaser 1 gets the ball, 2 means the Team A Chaser 2 gets the ball, 3 means the Team A Chaser 3 gets the ball, 4 means the Team B Chaser 1 gets the ball, 5 means the Team B Chaser 2 gets the ball, and 6 means the Team B Chaser 3 gets the ball.
- Chaser Pass - The Chaser Pass scenario is used to pass the Quaffle from one chaser to another. There is no limit to how often this scenario can be used. Options for this scenario are 1-4. 1 is that the chaser who is throwing the ball is hit by a Bludger. After this happens the game returns to All Chasers scenario. Then, we use the Bludger Hit scenario to determine how long the injured Chaser is out of the game (more below). 2 is interception by the other team. Thus, the other team gets the ball and is on offense. 3 and 4 are complete passes, meaning the player successfully got it to their teammate.
- Chaser vs. Chaser – This scenario is used whenever a Chaser wishes to steal the Quaffle from an opposing chaser. This scenario can only be used once every two posts. Available options are 1-2. 1 is steal, 2 is safe.
- Beater - The Beater scenario is used whenever a Beater wishes to hit the Bludger towards someone. This scenario may only be used once every two posts. Available options include 1-4. 1 is it hits the person aimed for, 2 is it misses and hits nothing, 3 is it hits a random opposing member, and 4 is it hits a random same team member.
- Beater Hits - Whenever someone is hit by a Bludger, we use this to determine how long they are out of the game. There are options 1-11. Each number correlates with the amount of posts the player is out of the game. For example, 1 is out for 1 post, 2 is out for 2 posts, 3 is out for 3 posts, etc. The only exception is 11, which is out for the entire game.
- Chaser Goals - The Chaser Goals scenario is when a Chaser attempts to make a goal. This option can only be used once every three posts. There are two options: 1 is scored, 2 is not scored.
- Seeker Catch - The Seeker Catch scenario is when a Seeker attempts to catch a Snitch. There are 10 options: 1-9 are not caught, and 10 is caught.
Below are exampls Roleplays that can help you get a grasp on the idea.

===============
Now while the roleplays will be much more in depth than that, this is just an example of what the referee's inclusion in the game will be like. We may hold several practice games before the actual Quidditch season begins so people can get a handle on the way things run. However, there are a few things to know:
- Whatever the referee says, goes. No exceptions.
- Whenever there is a limit on how often a scenario can be played, that does not include the referee's results post. It only means 2 of the actual player's posts.
- Cheering, commentators, and the crowd's posts are not allowed in the match topic. There will be a separate topic for commentating (a Quidditch commentator will be appointed), cheering, booing, etc.
