FIRST YEAR FLYING MADAM M. SLOAN SYLLABUS AND INFORMATION Welcome to Flying! I am Madam Moira Sloan and I will be your instructor this term, as well as the Quidditch Referee. I did not attend Hogwarts, instead I attended a small private academy in London that did not have certain houses. That is why I am the Quidditch Referee. They do not allow Hogwarts graduates to be the referees here. Anyhow, back to information about Flying. This class is for first years only. There will only be one lesson. And you ask, well what about my final exam? I have been granted permission by the head staff to allow that single lesson to count as your final exam. The lesson will be approximately two hours, but if you can show basic control of the broom, then you will receive credit for the exam. If you cannot show basic control, we may need to work alone one on one for a few days in order for you to get your credit. Please note, however, all first years MUST pass Flying to progress to their next year. It is required by the Ministry of Magic Department of Education that all first year students receive at least two hours of Flying instruction. During our lesson together, we will cover broom care, mounting the broom, standard flying, broom techniques, and broom sports. Sounds like fun, huh? Our lesson together will not be until the two weeks of final exams, or, in other words, November 19. So until we get to our lesson on Flying, enjoy the Quidditch! Sincerely, Madam Moira Sloan
